In spectral, Korean artist Lee Kayoung captures light beams, disappearing shapes, and ghostly shadows with with a secluded zen-like ambience in her works.
Lee Kayoung has always been inspired by nature. To her, nature is perfection, balance and harmony. She also believes her work should bear the imprint of the environment and reflect the spirit of contemporary times. Hence, she often interprets themes familiar to us, such as geometrical shapes and line works.
Earlier in her practice, she experimented with deconstructing and reconfiguring nature motifs. More recently, she has attempted to move away from representational forms, abandoning motifs that may bear her feelings and points of view. She interprets icons as minimalist forms; creating vistas that invite viewers to imagine and discover nature for themselves, just as nature intends for us to do.
